Battle between the carburettor and the Fuel Injection system! whic is better? 140-160 1972

Hi everyone!

Quick question: I am in the process of choosing a 164E for restoration. I need some hep and advice on choosing the fuel system: I am mostly biased toward fuel injection since that's the first one I worked with, they are pretty straight forward (1972 - 1975), reliable etc. Now I have heard many people often brag about their carburettor systems (strombergs, Webers etc). Can you guys give me the pros and cons of both? I have heard that the Webers were very simple to maintain. Then why all the complexity of the electronic fuel injection (better control over emmissions perhaps)? Which one is better for fuel economy? Which one is more responsive? Why is there that envy for carbs esp. among the afficianados?
Any objective discourses anyone?!

Thanks,
Kenny
