MAP Sensor 700 1990

An '89 740 could either have the Rex-Regina engine management system or the Bosch LH 2.4. One way to tell is by the coil. If it is square and on the driver's strut tower, you have Regina, if it is cylindrical and by the passenger side firewall, you have Bosch.

The other obvious difference is whether it has an Air Mass Meter, or a MAP sensor. If you have Bosch: Just upstream from your air filter box in that fat, corrugated plastic hose is either an equally fat cylindrical AAM which will have a big, inch long electrical plug attached to it.
If you have Regina: in that same spot next to the air filter box you will have a small probe sticking into the pipe with a smaller wire coming out of it. I believe that wire leads to the actual MAP sensor which is on the driver's strut tower.
