Recent engine fires 200

I did replace the ignition switch (after the continuous cranking episode). My concern is whether the switch replacement should be viewed as urgent rather than "I'll do it when I get around to buying one". I don't see how the continuous cranking noted in the recent stories could be caused by the fire where the the wires go under the crankshaft but I am wondering if the oposite could be true: fire resulting from overloaded alternator output due to continous cranking, especially if the wires have deteriorated to marginal.
