'91 940 SE barely running, only idle w/foot on accelerator & runs bad 900

need some starting point advise. my '91 940 SE turbo has suddenly started
stalling intermittently. now its in the driveway and will crank and only start
with foot on the gas, when it does start is runs bad. runs like bad misfire.
has smell of fuel and stalls immediately with foot off gas. quick trip through
FAQ I am looking at AMM, ECT, FPR, in tank pump. and ideas or tips for checking.
car is in good cond, has new relays, 165,000 miles.
