c.i. fuel dist, 240 turbo? or any k-jet gurus 200

hi all. i could use someone with experience on fuel dist settings 85 244ti c.i. system. the p.o. bypassed the fuel pump relay (toggle switch) and removed ground which disabeled the lambda sond system. with much much help form bruce young (lucid) he has walked me through the lambda system testing the duty cycles and relay and such. we believe the p.o. set up system to run mechanical injectors without lambda, (by turning up fuel flow at fuel dist) we are working on restoring lambda. bruce knows his stuff for sure and i am just the hands because he is far away from me. and the bosch c.i. fuel inj manual describes setting new fuel dist settings from scratch. but i have never done this and it been a while for my teacher. with the fuel pump relay set up properly and grounded the car pours out black smoke from tailpipe and smells rich. bruce and i have been on this for about a month slowly going through everything, i am not in a hurry because car runs o.k. does anyone have experience or information on resetting fuel distributer? if not we will go by the bosch manual. the more info i get the better off i will feel. thank you to all
