Frustrated with harmonic balancer 200 1987

Well I am replacing my timing belt and I have not been able to remove the harmonic balancer for the life of me. I figured I would try a few of the methods in the FAQs but so far I have been unsuccessful. I attemped to hold the pully with the ac belt and a board lodged under the cross member but no luck here. Then I tried to tie the harmonic balancer to the ac and alternator mount. After little success here I ended up breaking the rope. I finally gave up for the night. I think I am going to attempt to aquire the special tool tomorrow and do it correctly unless someone strongly urges me to try another homebrew method. Does anybody know what the tool costs at a dealer? I would get one from IPD but i really want to get the job done tomorrow.

TIA
