I put Bilstein HDs and overload springs in my 87 245. When empty with no gas in the tank, the car is a little jumpy on bumpy roads. With a full tank and one occupant, the car handles fine, and with a full load of passengers plus a few hundred pounds on the hitch it really handles great and never sags in the rear. At the same time as the springs and shocks I also moved to Yoko Avid Touring tires, P 195/70r14, which have a good load rating and have performed very well. The upgrades have alleviated my worries when hauling loads.
