The THING just will not START. 120-130

Do you have a spare distributor? One with points that is? If so, that'd be the first thing I'd try... I'd also stick in new plugs again... And of course, the other basics of making sure the plug wires in in the proper order, etc... I'm sure you've checked, and double checked that, but it don't hurt to check again.

One possibility is that your starter is drawing too much current. Worn out starter, bad connection between it and the battery, wire too small. When cranking it, does the post on the battery get hot?

If you have a spare battery, you could try isolating the ignition system to its own battery and give that a try.
