Swapping out motor - need to change ECU? 700

I am planning to drop a 91 b230ft into my 88 740T 250K (Bad engine knock, leaker, and starting to smoke at idle) Do I need to change the ECU or will the original work? I can also pickup the Trany with the motor so I was thinking I might drop that in as well, Do I need to worry about a proper fit or did Volvo leave well enough alone? Advise would be appreciated.
