First, this is the 700 board. Not too many guys like front drivers here.
Second, the clunking noise could possibly come from worn bushings at the top of the strut towers.
Third, with 140K miles one would expect the shocks to no longer perform, replace them.
Forth, check with bay13 web site for other related bumpy noises.
