Greetings all,
I am in the process of installing a third seat in a 96 960 --the seat came from a 94 940-- and I've run into a few snags that I suspect some kind person here can assist me with.
1) Both of the seatbelts have fully retracted such that you can fit them all in one hand, there is no run out of a few feet to snake through the fake vent, attach at the roof, etc.
2)With one of the seatbelts, while I was poking around at it I both snapped off a plastic clip on the truncated pyramid shaped side of the housing, though it still seems to be mighty snug. More of an issue, I suspect is that I loosened the torx nuts holding the other plastic housing to the metal body and then heard a whirring/fluttering/winding sound. Retraction issue seems the same, not apparently better or worse.
3) I'm wondering about the compatibility of the seat and car. While it all seems to be bolting together just fine, like holes are where they're supposed to be, the bottom portion of the seat might be sort of high. But, in any case, it does not lower when folding the seatback down. It all wedges tight with the seatback at about 20-30 degrees to the floor. That's not right.
4) not a technical question, but why does the belt latch in two places --at the wheel well and in the middle of the seat cushion?
Many thanks.
p.s. And, since it's electoral season again, I should note that my nom de guerre is in no way political: it's about my mechanical ability, as you might have deduced already. --cheers.
