940 GL : Timing Is Not Stable 900 1995

Dear All,
I'm driving an second hand unit of Volvo 940 GL at Malaysia.
The car manufactured 1995. The problem that I face recently was the timing which does not stable at the normal RPM.
Currently when I start my engine it will go up to 1300 ~ 1500 and drop to 500 rpm, then will start to move to 800 ~ 900 by itself.
Even sometimes it stay 1000 rmp and I need to ram the accelerator twice and it will be at the normal rpm at 800.

Recently, when the RPM at 500 at start I happen to see the check engine light appears for second then goes off.
Few times before the car engine were dead by itself.

I believe this is not an normal scenerion. Hence, I have cleanned the throttle body once.

What is your advice and where should I look for complete clue and proper solution towards this problem

Pls assist on this as I need some solution to drive the vehicle at peace of mind.

Appreciate your help.

Thank you
Prasad
