Lacquer or enamel? 700 1987

I'll check that out. I'm not looking to paint over existing paint...this is only to paint the new replacement hood for the car (courtesy of an accident posted earlier on here). It may not even be that imposrtant, but I would like to keep things as close to factory as possible. I don't know all that much about paint either (just that I like to wax it alot ;o) ) I'm going to be taking it to Alpine (a local BMW collision repair shop), I'm sure they will have suggestion or two :o). Thanks for the help.
