65S with a J OD 1800

The transmission was gone through before installation by an experenced Volvo mechanic. The transmission did leak oil but was not run dry. I wonder if the leak could have been caused by pressure from the driveshaft? The U joints flex eaisly and the drive line seems to be OK. This noise was not evident with the old D type OD transmission. It seems to occure under torque with the J type. If you have made this type of swap did you use the existing drive shaft successfully?
