What bonehead things have you done? 444-544

LOL, amusable thread, seemes we're not alone doing stupid things...

I haven't listed the dumbest stuff I've done, but I once had to take of the head of a B18. Almost a routine job. I drained the coolant by unhooking the radiator hoses and pulled the head...

to find a lot of coolant in top of pistons # 2,3 and 4. I had forgotten to drain the plug on the right side of the block, and since the thermostat was closed and the block is slightly tilted backwards there was lots of coolant left in there...

The coolant passed the pistons, past the lifters, into the oil pan, ect. Ans coolant and oil don't agree. You can think of the rest...

Also, just like SteveW and his duct tape, I had a similar thing on a two stroke motorbike, only I used a bit cotton wool by lack of anything better.

The stuff got sucked into the engine and got stuck around the big and small end, in the cilinderports, in between piston and cilinder... After I checked about everything else on the bike I pulled the exhaust to find a tiny bit of cotton wool, aha...

Cheers, ben
