Strange? Interior Coolant Leak 900 1993

After ripping half my interior apart to replace a vacuum servo, I found coolant in the driver's side floor vent. I have no coolant under the rugs on either side.

All the information I can find by searching or in the FAQ point to failed heater cores leaking coolant but usually to the passenger side foot well.

Can I assume that this leak must be coming from the heater core? I am not familiar with how everything is routed in order to figure this one out.

Has anybody run across this problem? I hate to drop $120 on a heater core if I don't have to, but it would be dumb of me not to replace it now if needed as I already that the driver’s side parts of the center console.

Thanks,
Ian
