Steam cleaning the engine 200

Good Morning! I've recently bought my first Volvo (at age 68, me, not the Volvo), a 1985 245 Turbo and now I wonder what took me so long! I've been reading my son's Bentley Bible and have begun to educate myself as to what's under the hood. I would like to steam clean or have steam cleaned the engine and engine bay for a better "view". I have also been regularly accessing the brickboard and am amazed at the wealth of information available and the willingness of other brickboarders to share that information. My questions:

Is it a good idea to steam clean the engine compartment?

If so, what precautions to take.

What to use and how to do it.

Any No-No's?

I will welcome any and all advice and comments!

Thanks!

Tom
