brake pad pickle 140-160

Actually...yes. About 40 miles from the nearest place that *might* have pads... but them girlings can be hard to come by. And, its about 2/3 of a mile of elevation drop and down a twisty mountain road...hard not to use the brakes :-)

As it is, I just got into it and compared as I went... the ATE calipers seem to fit just fine. Its actually a good thing, as I found one of the old ones was leaking a bit, one had a broken bleed valve, and ever since I did the rear end swap, I've had ATEs up front, and Girlings at the rear. Now I've got ATEs all 'round.

And I found the cause of the nasty clunk in the rear end, and tightened up the offending shock absorber.

And now that its almost fall, I can install my summer tires finally :-) (which will force me to check the front brakes, which I do have pads for having found them today in search of my set of rears).

Which is another bonus... I know I have a set of the rear pads I needed, and I thought they were in the car. So my car got its first cleaning out in a year and a half.

A good car day indeed... and yes, I could've taken another car, but the 122 and the Jag are both in town, and the only other street legal vehicle I have here is the '68 GMC pickemup, which is only half full of trash to be taken to the dump. And one of its (new) tires seems to have gone flat...
