What happens if exhaust is chopped off? 700 1987

Just wondering, how will my 760 turbo run if I hack off the exhaust before the cat converter, removing the cat and two mufflers? Would it be ok since it's a turbo (no backpressure problems to worry about like NA). I ask because the oil had been overfilled before and since then I'm struggling with power. It seems to run a little better with the test port plug removed from the exhaust pipe. I don't have emissions testing to worry about, but I just want a temporary "fix" until I can replace the exhaust system.

Also, would there be any difference if I put just a straight pipe from the turbo to the back of the car (no cat, mufflers)?
