Strange 240 parts/acessories --- any info? 200

Hello, I have a couple of strange parts I pulled from an older 240, and I was wonding if you guys had any info on them:

1. It's a huge black rubber arm type thing that attached to the back of the driver's seat, and the end has 3 large holes, that resemble a handle of sorts that hangs out over the top of the e-brake console and rear ashtray. What is this huge ugly thing and what is it used for?

2. A flexible reading lamp attached to the cieling next to the passanger side cieling handle with a little white switch to activate it, and a clip that holds it up there out of the way when not in use. Is this aftermarket, or an original Volvo accossory?

Thanks for any input!

Take care,
-Rob
