84 242 turbo appears to be having detonation around 6-8 lbs. of boost. running 92 octane, retarded timing and still does it, oil level ok. The car was running fine and had no detonation at full boost, it happened all at once. It is my sons car that I drove from Los Angeles to New Hampshire for him about a month ago, he then drove it to North Carolina. Checked for and have good vacuum at the vacuum advance. Anything to have him check before taking it to a shop? Any recommendations for a good volvo shop in the Fort Bragg area?
