76 engine for an 82? 200

My 82 245/AW70 sounds like it's knocking a piston pin. How much work would it be to swap mills with my 76 242/M46?
I assume they are close to identical, but the 76 has some kinda frankenstein looking vacuum/egr device attached to the valve cover. Could this be amputated during the transplant?
