rocker switches illumination? 200 1993

This past weekend I wired up a set of aux driving lights, using a relay, 12 gauge wire and a stock fog light switch. Went well and really helps the lighting situation. However, when I was wiring up the rocker switch, I had all the rocker switches out, looking for a good place to grab the switch light bulb power when I spied a loose bulb holder with wiring floating around behind the rocker panel. This bulb is wired up to the dash lights and dims just like the rest of the dash. It's holder is a little larger than the ones that are inserted into the rocker switches. My question is, is this intended to provide back lighting to the rocker switches (which are now not back lit) and if so, where does it go?
