Window motor replacement? 900 1992

The front passenger window will not operate. It's stuck up. I've removed the switch and confirmed 12 volts to the switch with ignition on. I've used the rear window switch on the front, but the window won't move. I plugged the front window switch into the rear window and it works. I tried jumpering the connections to check the motor function, but could not get the motor to work. I don't think this proves anything however, because I tried the same on the rear window (which has a good motor in it), and couldn't get it to work either. I obviously don't understand how the switch works.

I recently bought the car, so I don't have much prior info on it. The previous owner had it for 3 years and said the window never worked for them.

I couldn't find any info in the FAQ's concerning replacing the motor.

1) What else can I try?

2) How are the wire terminals connected by the switch, to allow me to just put 12 volts to the motor to test it?

3) How bad is the job of replacing the motor?

Thanks,
Mark
