High beam wiring problem 200 1988

This is to build on what Lucid already said.

The stock connections on the step relay are:

31b.......Brown from stalk switch, activates relay coilby providing ground.

15........two - red from light switch, blue to terminal 81a which powers lights when using flasher.

56........Yellow from 87 on the headlight relay (closed when key is on). Power from light switch for low and high beams.

56b.......Gray to BFWS relay for low beams.

56a.......three - two red (to each high beam) one w-r to dash high beam indicator

The high beams do not go through the BFWS relay, only the low beams.

The BFWS can be by-passed at the BFWS relay by redirecting the gray to the two blue wires (BFWS terminal #2 & 7).

If your wiring is not like this, then something else is goind on.

Good Luck,

Bob
