1989 240DL 200

Great site. Took my 240 in for tuneup. Car had sat for months having been worked on by a mechanic who kept telling me to buy an American car. He didn't know what he was doing and kept my car for 5 months (I know, what was wrong with me) so the new mechanic calls and tells me that he has tuned it up running great pick it up next am. Called am said the car wouldn't start, smelled like gas and would have to check it out further. Thinks it is the relay ..does this sound straight..I have mechanic fear at being taken advantage of again..HELP
