'96 965 dead transmission S90-V90

The transmission on my '96 965 ate it today, I have to gun the car just to get it to move. My local Volvo shop is suggesting replacing the tranny, $3,000+, none of the local transmission shops want to touch the Asian Warner unit. I have 138,000 miles and will also need frontend work. What do you think, is it worth it?
