DEAD SEDAN.......AND BROUGHT BACK TO LIFE....... 200 1986

Today of all days for my brick to die. Of course no day is a good one, anyway, I was driving along at about 25 mph in city traffic (after morning rush hour)
and the next thing I noticed was I was coasting and all the dash lights were on. I pulled over and popped it (auto trans) into neutral and it started right up......and ran for about 1/2 block. The third time it happened I coasted into a parking lot and it wouldn't restart. :-((((((( bummer. I have 293,000 miles on it and replaced the harness junction at the firewall last year, so I figured it couldn't be that. Then I remembered about 4 years ago, when I was my daughter's car (Dad gets the hand-me-downs) the same thing happened for about a week and being she was out of town at school and had an honest Volvo service shop...said it was most likely the fuel pump relay. He plugged in one from a donor car and it started right up and has run fine since....at least until today. Well, when my daughter had come home, I had picked a used relay up at the brickyard and left it in the glove box. Sure enough, I plugged in the spare and the car started right up.....Guess where I'm going this weekend, yep, back to the boneyard to get another spare to replace the spare I used.
Everyone should have a spare fuel pump relay......$2 insurance is real cheap.

Thanks for listening to the end of a close call day story......... :-))))))
