Battery Light 200 1989

Hello all!

My alternator install saga continues...
I got the new alt installed, but now The "battery" dash light comes on very faintly when the car is running. It doesn't come on initially, but does come on after the car has been running awhile. I consulted my manual and it says that the three lights surrounding the battery light come on when the alternator is malfunctioning -and that is what happened before I replaced it with a new one...

But now only the battery light comes on when the car is being driven. Again the manual says to check the tension on the belts. This makes sense. maybe the alt is not getting enough of a work-out because the belt is not tight enough....

I checked and my belts seem to be tight enough....

Anyone else ever had this problem? What should I check next?
