940 brakes 900

Got myself in a jam. Wife sez rear brakes are grinding. I bought rotors and pads and got to work. All went well and since it has ABS, I opened the bleeders when retracting the pistons in the calipers, but didn't clamp off the rubber lines. Everything is back together but I have almost no braking power. I don't have any warning lights and the car will stop, but with way too much pedal. Master cylinder is full. I have been looking in the FAQ, but haven't found anything quite like my problem.
Brakes won't 'pump up'. With new rotors, I assume it's not an issue with the rotor lip contacting new pads.
What am I missing?
Thx,
Mark
