240 won't shut off..?????

1990 240dl sat for 14 months supposedly in need of a fuel ECU. Well I bought it for a project, got a used ECU, AND it runs really nice, SO NICE THAT THE KEY WON'T SHUT IT OFF. I have been pulling the fuel pump relay to shut it off.

The key will shut it off if it has only been running a short while.

Any ideas are welcome.
