89 B230FT - Can any Diagnostic Information be provided by the ECU? 700 1989

Hi,

I have 89 740T (B230FT) - In my Chilton manual it indicates that the Turbo engine in this year did not yet use an OBD1 ECU.

I would like to know, if there is any way I can extract information from the ECU regarding a curious "Check Engine" problem I am having.

(Check engine light stays on for 30 to 90 seconds after starting car, whether a cold start or a warm start - this is coupled with a really rough idle - one that shakes the car when at a stop light and the brake is applied auto-trans.)

Thank you,

John

I am starting the processes of diagnosing the problem listed in the FAQ. Step 1 - Vacuum - the crankcase appears to be circulating fumes as it generates a bit of suction through an open oil cap.
