Odometer/Trip Odometer 200 1981

I just took my first road trip in my 240 Wagon. The odometer had always worked until taking this trip. The trip odometer would stick on 0.9, 1.9, 9.9 etc. also causing the main odometer to stop counting. When the trip one is reset both start counting again. There seemed to maybe be a relation to heat, sun shining on the dash board for periods of time.

I have previously removed the dash cluster and replaced the clock with a tach, so I have some experience.

Does anyone have any repair ideas?
