Headlight switch? 200

My 89 244 manual tranny has a headlight switch that makes the headlights come on in two positions. In the last position the lights will go off when the ignition switch is turned off. The first position(one click after the off position) lets the lights stay on no matter the position of the ignition switch..Ok now the kicker. My 89 244 Auto tranny headlight switch has the first position( one click to the right)as the parking lights and the next click clockwise is the main headlights.. Is there a difference or do I have a weird headlight switch that has been rewired by someone who never needed parking lights???
