I think I may have killed the main pump 200 1977

The 245 Van came in several configurations. Most were carburettered, but mine, a '77 was the only 2 seater 245 to come to Australia with K-Jet injection. A single stromberg wouldn't have anything like the power, but might be a bit easier for yours truly to fix.

My insufficiant fuel issue has been getting worse, although the problem is intermittent. Now that I've sorted my charging system to run at a nice consistent 13.6 volts I'm still having major fuel delivery issues.

It's done all kinds of things in the last few days, but the general gist of it is that the fuel mix leans out terribly under load. Sometimes this equates to running ok till you floor it, then it splutters, other times it runs fine, although this is becoming less and less the norm.

Today was the worst it's been. I drove about five miles, unable to get it running on 4 at above idle, or even able to get it out of first gear. I just had to coax it and slip the clutch to get it rolling, then just let it idle in first with my feet flat on the floor. Any more throttle than that and it just spluttered out.

The idle is as smooth as a B21 ever is with a blown exhaust, but put even the lightest touch, and suddenly it starts missing, there's just simply not enough fuel available. I've never driven a car where the revs surge as i take my foot OFF the throttle before.

But what I noticed today, is that there seems to be a correlation between the noises made by the fuel pump, and the performance of the engine. Basicly, when the fuel supply cuts out, so too does the noise from the pump.

Is this going to really cost me this time?
