Need help with install of Rear 2' trim on top of bumper ? 200

I had the 2 inche piece of trim (black/silver) come off that runs along to top side of the bumper. The fasteners are all still attached to the car. I spent about an hour this weekend trying to fig out how to get it back on to no avail. Is there a TRICK to this ??? I noticed that you cannot access the BACK of the pins as they are not avail within the trunk.
