Rumbling when accelerating and driving 700 1988

If the transmission mount is broken, the transmission will have dropped down at least an inch. You will be able to visibly see the break. If you have to replace it, put a block of wood under the trans oil pan and relieve the weight from the cross member. Unbolt the cross member to trans mission mount bolt, drop the crossmember and replace the trans mount.

If it is a universal joint, you should be able to "feel" that by rocking the drive shaft with your hand. I'm not certain about the rear bushings on the 740. I've not had to get into my 940 in that area yet.
