Camshaft/timing belt questions 900

Hello all. I have 2 volvo's and have questions about interchangability of the cam on the two...

They are:
1987 745 B230F NA
1994 945 B230FD NA

I just bought a timing belt for the 94 and the teeth on the belt are more rounded than that of the 87. The 87 has square teeth on the belt. I also have the VX cam and IPD cam gear installed in the 87 and wanted to swap it into the 94. If I look at the stock cam gear off the 87 the new (rounded tooth) belt doesn't fit all that well around it as compared to the square tooth belt. I have yet to take off the timing cover of the 94 to investigate that, but can you offer any advice?

Will the cam drop in to the 94 without problems? I know about the proper torque for installing the bearing caps and about shimming the valves, but is there any other helpful advice you can offer?

Thank you!

Stefa
