So I finally own a post '80 240.
It's an '86 244 DL with lots of GL upgrades: Wheels, Dome light delay, etc... (No leather seats though...)
The tan cloth interior is excellent.

Anyway, there's a few things about this car that are quite a bit different from my older 240s, and I have a few questions.
First off, Does this car have one of those Temp Comp boards?
Secondly, is there some way to disable whatever it is that keeps the drivers door lock plunger from depressing while the door is open? This is rather annoying to me due to my usual car securing habits (which are as follows: Turn car off, put the car in Reverse/park, Throw keys in pocket, jump out of the car, lock it behind me, and swing the door shut!) I've locked my keys in the car only once before, and that was a pretty isolated incident. (Even then I had an extra key in my pocket.)
The windshield is pretty nasty... It looks just fine driving around during the day, but it was really really hard to see anything while driving at night... it was just way too hazy. Add crappy yellowed headlights to that equation, and it's not a pretty result.
Is pulling the instrument cluster on this car similar to pulling the clusters in my '76-'80 240s? I tried to take one out of a '88 in the junk yard once, and it proved to be more difficult then the earlier ones.
Any other big differences between the early (pre-1981) 240s that I should watch out for?
Thanks as always.
