Can non-Volvo front seats be mounted in my 740? 700 1990

I'm looking for different front seats and was wondering if, for example, Jetta seats can be retrofitted for a 740? I've never taken the Volvo seats out so I don't know what would be involved, but was wondering if the bottom tracks from my 740 could be bolted or welded onto seats from a different car. Anyone out there ever tried doing this with success? Thanks,
