Recommendations Sought: Engine Rebuild 140-160

I would have a shop mic everything before you decide on how much to spend, what bore, pistons, valves, etc you need. As mentioned, disassemble everything and mark, but bring the parts to the shop (unless of course you have access to an inside micrometer, outside micrometer and someone with a little knowelege to help you measure everything).
What I would not do for your re-build, re-use lifters and pushrods, timing gears, bearings- mains & connecting rod, stock fr & rear seal housings, or rockers & shaft assembly. The pistons may not be needed, but you won't know until you disassemble the block and mic the bore.
