When I put my 83GL into drive after it sits for a few hours, it takes a few second for it to get underway as I step down on the gas pedal. I notice that if I put the car in drive and then take my foot off of the brake and wait for about 30 seconds or so, it then starts to move. It's almost as if the trans is "priming-up" before the car moves.
