d-jet brain and knobs 140-160

Hmm. I hope I didn't just double-post here...

So I've been fiddling with my 73 142 which I have in my garage for
the first time since I got it 4 years ago.

The d-jet brain has a knob on the side of it. This knob appears
to be a variable resistor of some sort.

I'm going to assume that this is an adjustment of some sort, but
is it one that is on all d-jet brains or is this some weirdo modified
d-jet brain? How do I know the correct adjustment for this thing,
will I need a dyno and a wide band O2 sensor?

Thanks,
chris
