need quick advice: My crankshaft pulley is moving!! 700

On my 89 745 w/ 196k miles, I noticed an unusual noise last 2 days. Haven't had time to inspect, since are selling the house, moving 3 states away today and tomorrow. Looked under hood just now, and when apply throttle, engine makes a squeaking/squealing sound. (I figured water pump). During sound, though, I just saw the crankshaft pulley extending forward towards the radiator. It leaps forward (and I hear the noise) and then settles back into place. Is my whole crankshaft moving? What's going on here?

I planned to leave this car (our third) loaded up and left behind, and then fly back to drive it home. Now I'm not so sure that's a good idea. What do you guys recommend?

Thanks in advance,

Bob
