rear trailing arm bushings 200 1991

i plan on installing poly bushings.i want to leave the old metal sleeves on the car,remove the rubber inside and put on the poly bushings.this way i avoid the hassle of removing the whole bushings.i realize removing the rubber may be a chore.any ideas or comments on the plan and of the choice of poly over rubber.
