Removal of turn signal (not just the lens) Do you have to be Swedish or something?? 200 1988

How in the world do you get to the two screws that hold the turn signal in place?? I've looked at it from every angle I can think of, and don't see any way into that "compartment" behind the turn signal(next to the headlight.)
I have a new one, and can see that it's got two points that will accept screws, but what do you have to disassemble in order to gain access to the rear of the housing? I feel very dumb...I had to take a break and mow the lawn. Thanks in advance for any help.
