The volvo or VW I-6 turbodiesel is anything but underpowered, I do 0-60 in under 9 seconds. It was the old 240 non turbo diesel that was underpowered, I wanted to make this clairification as I own a turbodiesel 760GLE.

Bolt patterns are not the same between the 4 and 6 cyl engines, the starter ends up on the wrong side of the block, throw-out for the stick trans is a center pushrod and not an outboard type bearing and the non turbo 4 Im not sure how well it would pull a 760. There is a guy who rebuilds the VW or Volvo diesels on another forum and lives out on the east coast. His reputation is very good and he knows what he's doing. If you are in Minnesota Im somewhat available.

As for the new TDi motors, well so far I have raced against 3 of them so far and beaten them by over a cars length on my 0-60 distances, one was "chipped" and I managed only 3/4 car length. So much for slow diesels.
