stumbling after engine cleaning 900 1994

i have a problem with my 94 non turbo stumbling after cleaning the engine. at first i thought there was probably just water in a connection causing it to happen, so i let it sit overnight and the problem is still there. what would be the most probable cause to this problem? it was fine before and now after washing it sounds like its only firing on 3-cylinders. the engine doesnt die, it just idles poorly
