Pinging problem 900

I have a 1996 940 with the low pressure turbo (about 4 psi IIRC). It has the B230FK engine and it uses the same part numbered LH 2.4 and EZ116K ECU's as the B230FT. It has 105000km only on the clock.

The problem is light pinging at light to medium load at about 2000rpm especially with the A/C on. I think I have been through all the possibilities namely: I always use 98 octane, the fuel injectors have been cleaned, the EGR system does not appear blocked, the knock sensor is torqued correctly, the combustion chambers have been cleaned, I have not detected any vacuum leaks and with such a small turbo, I can't see any possibility of over-boost. The car runs perfectly otherwise.

Is there anything else I can try other than fiddle with the EZK computer to retard the timing???

Is a light rattle for a few seconds anything to bother about anyway??

Has anyone had similar problems? This is getting interesting!

Cheers
Cameron
