Hey guys,
I used to be on the board quite a lot with my old 760. I've long since moved on, and today got snapped back to volvo's. Anyways.
This gentlemen was having his 1800e (1970) repaired. I left my number for interest. Couple of months later he called me.
I took the car home today for a better look over here are the facts:
1970 1800E green with cream interior:
original owner, everything is pretty much there
mileage unknown but in the 300k range.
Rebuilt (and bored) motor, rebuilt tranny (1994) with less than 700 miles on that (4spd).Overdrive works great. Drives ok. hood is wrong color. His son wrecked it long time ago(front) it was repaired but the paint you can tell doesnt match. all glass is there, but most seals are dry. chrome ok except front bumper 1/4 of it is pretty rusty. Front widsheild is cloudy along bottom, needs replacement
RUST: mostly surface rust on the trunk, some on the front fenders. One of the rockers is rusted through in in a 2 inch diameter. Rear valance(part under the bumper definitly needs attention), and some other places. Mostly bubbling. Place around battery top of the shelf edge rusted through no metal left. No rust by the headlights. Floorboard seems alright, i will take it to a lift monday. The paint in general has oxidized badly. I took some meguirs wax and my rags were very very green, but in places the paint actually looked usuable.
Interior: dash is trashed, tach works but speedo doesnt(neither does the clock DUH). Seats are torn and stuff, but nothing some seat covers cant fix. Tires and wheels look ok. All the lights and such are in pretty good condition. Headliner sags but looks like i could just pop it back into place. Interior bits here are there need to be fixed, but the dash is the major issue.
ANYWAYS,
how much is something like this worth. Basicly if i buy it, do some elbow grease and money gets a little too tight(college), can i sell it and get my money back if i got it for say 1500 bucks?
btw he has ALL the receipts owners manuals and such.
